I’m trying something new. Monday through Friday I’ll be sharing a two-minute idea about fatherhood. I hope you find value in these quick posts.
We had good excuses to say no thank you to a recent camping trip we went on.
My wife had a stressful week at work, I had done a bunch of driving that week, our home was a mess and needed a thorough cleaning, the weather wasn’t looking great, and it was a lot of work to pack up and drive two hours just for one night of camping.
But in the end of the day, they were exactly that: excuses.
So we decided to go anyway because it’s summertime and our girl is young and one day, she won’t want to go camping with us so — Make hay while the sun shines, folks. Not only that, but children deserve adventures. They deserve long car rides to new places, hot mornings at the beach, rainy afternoons playing cards, watching stars appear in the sky as the sun sets, spotting fireflies in the fields, and hearing adults curse as they take far too long to start a fire.
They deserve parents who say yes to adventures so that they will grow up knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that life is all about adventures.
